Remembering my Grandmother

Created by Janine 3 years ago
There is so much I would like to say about my Grandma who was my biggest supporter and best friend. From the day I was born she was always in my life and we would see her almost every day. She would come to our house Tuesdays and Sundays and we would go to her house on Thursdays for her famous lasagna or rotisserie chicken followed by her homemade rhubarb crumble with custard.

I loved every second I spent with my Grandma from painting, cooking, playing dolls, teacher and even her listening to me playing the violin and piano on a Sunday afternoon. I will never forget almost every Sunday after we had our big Sunday lunch, she would sit down on the reclining chair have a few chocolates, a cup of tea and fall asleep.

Another favorite memory I have of my Grandma is the amazing sleepovers we would have. We would always go to McDonalds. She would get the fish filet sandwich and I would get the fish finger happy meal. We would then go back to her house and play dolls or play with funny bath toys in her blue bathtub.

Another memory of Grandma were the many Christmas’s we spent together. She would always come over and sleep in her designated room at our house. Before dinner we would go out and sprinkle rainbow reindeer food on the grass and get all of the goodies ready for Father Christmas. The next morning I would always wake up at the crack of dawn and we would “ have to be quiet because Grandma is still sleeping…” until I couldn’t wait any longer and would rush into her room at 8am to tell her about all of the exciting things that happened during the night.

Lastly the most frequent activity we would do together was playing dolls. Not just any dolls but her very special porcelain doll that Grandad gave to her. From a very young age I would play with it and would always look forward to getting her out of her cradle.  Grandma and I used to play with it together for hours.

I have so many things that I could say about this amazing lady I was so fortunate to call my Grandma. I will miss her dearly, but I know she is in a better place and I know all of her suffering is over. I will remember her for as long as I live, and I will cherish the amazing impact she has had on my life and on so many others. I love you Grandma. Thank you for everything.
